Dear World of WordPress,
Do you edit the heck out of your photos? I for one, hardly touch my photos. I might adjust the contrast or vibrancy of a photo but beyond that it’s all foreign ground for me. I met a lady who is a Photographer and I asked if she has a webpage that I could check out, she said yes, gave me the address and then told me that she Photoshops everything. That had me curious, I was wondering why someone would take a perfectly good photograph and make it look like anything but a photograph. As I was looking through her gallery, it occurred to me that the majority of people don’t hang actual photographs on the wall (aside from family photos and such) they hang art on the wall, and what I was looking at on the website was indeed art.
So I decided to try my hand at editing some photos. Keep in mind, this is my first attempt. I use Paint Shop Pro X4 and I haven’t explored all of it’s editing features yet. What are you thoughts on edited photos in general, what are you thoughts of my edited photos? Constructive criticism is always welcome, but don’t be too harsh, I may cry.
These are just a few that I’ve done, you can check out my Facebook page for more!
Another night of riding instead of taking pictures, I did stop and snap this one though. The first ride out on my new CBR1000RR….an amazing bike!
I didn’t have much time for picture taking today. The two bikes on the end (without plates) showed up today so I’ve been a little preoccupied 🙂 But Hey…I did put pretty pink and blue text on the photo, so that must get me one point for creativity!
“In a car you’re always in a compartment, and because you’re used to it you don’t realize that through that car window everything you see is just more TV. You’re a passive observer and it is all moving by you boringly in a frame.
On a cycle the frame is gone. You’re completely in contact with it all. You’re in the scene, not just watching it anymore, and the sense of presence is overwhelming.”

It was a beautiful day to be out riding, I organized a group of about 20 riders to all meet up today and ride out to Canmore for a bite to eat. Unfortunatly, I never thought to take a picture until everyone started to pull away. Oops.
That’s right, I would rather be riding today…but instead I shoveled the driveway!! I was hoping we were done with winter, last week motorcycles were out and about, but today we all woke up to a foot of snow!
The wild temperature fluctuations characteristic of Calgary weather are partly attributed to the continental climate. The high altitude plays a role, and some of the remaining credit goes to the turbulent winds in the wake of the Rocky Mountains.
The temperature reaches 20°C or better, about 85 days each year. And 30° only about four times. Chinooks and cold fronts can result in temperature changes of 10° or more in a single hour.
It can be bright, sunny and extremely cold and windy all at the same time in winter. Something to experience.
On the plus side:
At over 2400 hours on average of bright sunshine per year, Calgary weather, along with many other south Canadian prairie locations, makes us one of Canada’s sunniest places.
I finally pulled my bike out of hibernation today! She purred to life at the touch of a button, and we were off and riding the gravel filled streets in no time!
Four wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul.
Never trade the thrills of living for the security of existence.
Another day that I couldn’t decide on which picture to use, so I’m uploading both. Both represent old and in need of repair.
Me and my bike!
I couldn’t decide which one to upload, so my photo-a-day just became: upload as many photos as I want per day!
The lighting in my parkade was really bad, it wasn’t so noticable when I made the pictures black and white. This is my first attempt at a self portrait. It’s also my first time shooting with my new lens (50mm 1.8).
It turns out that my all around everyday expression is angry, even when I think sexy, the picture says angry! I must work on that! 🙂
On the plus side, I got to ride my bike around my parkade even though it’s -20 degrees Celsius outside! Yay Me!
