I like to look at honey bee’s, but if you were to see my reaction when one buzzes by my head, you’d think otherwise 🙂

144/365 – Honey Bee

“Unique among all God’s creatures, only the honeybee improves the environment and preys not on any other species.” ~ Royden Brown

Honey is the only food that includes all the substances necessary to sustain life, including enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and water; and it’s the only food that contains “pinocembrin”, an antioxidant associated with improved brain functioning. (I officially have a new found respect for bees and the honey they create!!)

A colony of bees consists of 20,000-60,000 honeybees and one queen. Worker honey bees are female, live for about 6 weeks and do all the work.

Larger than the worker bees, the male honey bees (also called drones), have no stinger and do no work at all. All they do is mating.

Today has been a cloudy and somewhat rainy day. I went outside to try and get a shot of water on flowers, instead this little gal got in my way 🙂 Actually, I think my camera got in the way of her supper, but whatever.
